50 Years On Our Way!

[Past] Events: March 6th - 14th

The oldest continually operating community women’s center in the U.S., the Cambridge Women’s Center (CWC), celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in March 2021.  We commemorated this milestone with 10 days of virtual events, honoring the 10-day building takeover by feminist activists in 1971, which led to the Center’s founding. The Cambridge and Greater Boston communities were invited to partake in this FREE series of events!

In addition to the 50th celebrations—exciting news came with the complete renovation of the CWC’s four-story Victorian house, which was purchased in 1971, thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor. With the future of our building secured, CWC used our 50th anniversary as an opportunity to raise funds to ensure that the main features that empowering our community of women—our drop-in center, helpline support, groups and workshops—remain vibrant for years to come.

Lastly, after more than 2 years, we returned to our permanent space in September 2023, marking a significant milestone in our journey. This return to our original location symbolizes not just a physical homecoming, but also a reaffirmation of our commitment to those we serve. We are absolutely thrilled to be back and continue serving our community with renewed vigor and dedication.

We hope you will consider making a donation today to ensure another 50 years of empowering women and sustaining our vital programs.
