CWC Board of Directors Announces Interim Executive Director Role
As Cambridge Women’s Center (CWC) celebrates over 50 years as a progressive community uplifting and supporting women of all backgrounds and experiences, we are at an organizational pivot point as we strive to develop strategic and sustainable processes to professionalize and standardize finances, operations, marketing, community outreach, and fundraising.
To direct this exciting endeavor, we are seeking an experienced and collaborative change management expert located in the Greater Boston area to serve as our full-time Interim Executive Director (ED). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim ED will oversee the strategic planning, operational management, and financial oversight of the organization for a one-year term.
Primary responsibilities include:
Advocate for the organization.
Liaise with the Board of Directors.
Hire and mentor staff.
Support programming and appreciate volunteers.
Manage fiscal and daily operations.
Partner with local and regional community allies.
Engage and steward donors.
Founded in 1971, CWC is the oldest continuously operating community center for women in the United States, and provides a safe and welcoming space for learning, emotional support, empowerment, and self-determination.
“The stories of the women we serve are powerful reminders of CWC’s ongoing impact,” reflects Board Chair Ruth Erickson. “Developing the necessary foundation for a permanent Executive Director leader as well as the stable pillars for our organization will enable us to continue to serve generations of women in Cambridge and the Greater Boston community.”
In addition to the financial and operations oversight, part of the Interim ED’s role will be to partner with the Board, staff, and community members to develop a strategic plan aligned with CWC’s mission, programming, and evolving community needs.
Leveraging our esteemed history in Cambridge, we are eager to more prominently position CWC as a champion of women, and promote our commitment to social engagement and justice through thoughtful marketing, communications, and outreach. Additionally, the Interim ED will help identify a broader base of community support while more intimately engaging relationships with our donors, volunteers, and allies.
